Privacy Policy

Effective 18 September 2026 · Last updated 18 September 2026

Yomo Studios (“we,” “our,” or “us”) values your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use our website, buy our products, commission a custom piece, book a workshop or class, or communicate with us. We handle personal information in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and other applicable Nigerian data protection laws.

1. Who We Are

Yomo Studios is a handcrafted art studio based in Lagos, Nigeria. We make custom resin lamps, keychains, chessboards, and chess pieces, and we run workshops, private classes, and community events. Yomo Studios is the trading name of L’Atelier Yomo, a registered business in Nigeria (registered business name number 8606548). L’Atelier Yomo is the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy, and references in this policy to “we,” “our,” or “us” mean Latelier Yomo, trading as Yomo Studios.

2. Information We Collect

  • Personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, billing address, and shipping address.
  • Order and booking information, including products purchased, custom order details, gift voucher purchases and recipient details, workshop and class registrations, delivery details, and related communications.
  • Custom order content, such as design briefs, names, text, colours, and reference images you send us.
  • Payment information where necessary to process a transaction. Payment details are handled directly by third-party payment processors, and we do not store your full payment card details.
  • Information you provide when contacting us through our website, email, telephone, messaging apps, social media, or other communication channels.
  • Workshop and event information, such as participant names and ages, emergency contact details where we ask for them, and any allergies, health conditions, or other needs you choose to tell us about so we can run a session safely. Health information is sensitive personal data, and we collect it only with your consent.
  • Photographs and video recordings of you or your work taken at workshops and events, where you have consented.
  • Newsletter sign-up details and your marketing preferences.
  • Website usage information such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, device information, and similar technical information, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information only where we have a lawful basis to do so under the NDPA. Depending on the circumstances, this may be your consent, the need to perform a contract with you (or to take steps at your request before entering into one), compliance with a legal obligation, or our legitimate interests, provided these are not overridden by your rights and freedoms. We use your information:

  • To process and fulfil orders, custom commissions, gift voucher purchases, and workshop bookings.
  • To arrange delivery and provide customer support.
  • To respond to enquiries, requests, and other communications.
  • To send marketing communications, offers, event announcements, or studio updates where you have consented or where otherwise permitted by law. You may opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in our messages or by contacting us.
  • To run workshops and events safely, including responding to allergies or health needs you have told us about.
  • To share photographs and videos of workshops, events, and finished pieces on our website and social media, where you have consented.
  • To improve our website, products, workshops, and customer experience, and to keep our website secure and prevent fraud.
  • To comply with applicable legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, or security requirements.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to support essential website functions, understand website traffic, improve performance, and enhance your browsing experience. These may include essential cookies that the website needs in order to work, analytics cookies that help us understand how visitors use the website, and, where used, cookies from social media or marketing services. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.

You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings, although some website features may not function properly as a result. Third-party services used on our website may set their own cookies, which are governed by their own policies.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with trusted service providers where reasonably necessary to operate our business, including payment processors, delivery and logistics providers, website hosting and technology providers, analytics providers, and email marketing services. These providers may use your information only to provide services to us and are expected to protect it appropriately.

We may also disclose information where required by law, court order, or a request from a competent regulator or law enforcement authority; where reasonably necessary to protect our legal rights, customers, or business; or in connection with a sale or restructuring of our business, in which case the new owner will be required to respect this policy.

If you tag us, message us, or post about Yomo Studios on social media, that content is also governed by the relevant platform’s own privacy policy.

6. International Transfers

Some of our service providers, such as website hosting, email marketing, or analytics providers, may store or process information outside Nigeria. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure that your information remains protected in line with the NDPA, for example by choosing reputable providers and relying on appropriate contractual or other safeguards.

7. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements and to resolve disputes. For example, order records are kept for as long as accounting and legal requirements demand, marketing details are kept until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent, and photographs are used until you withdraw your consent. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure, including limiting access to those who need it. However, no method of transmitting or storing information online can be guaranteed to be completely secure. If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to put your rights and freedoms at risk, we will notify the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) and affected individuals as the NDPA requires.

9. Your Rights

Under the NDPA and other applicable law, you have rights relating to your personal information, including the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your information, where the law allows.
  • Object to or request restriction of certain processing, including processing for direct marketing.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time where processing is based on consent. This does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it.
  • Request your information in a portable format, where applicable.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the time required by law. If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information, please contact us first so that we can try to put things right. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) at ndpc.gov.ng.

10. Children’s Privacy

Under Nigerian law, a child is a person under the age of 18. Our website and services are not intentionally directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 18 without the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Where a child attends a workshop or class, we collect the child’s information from, and seek consent from, their parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us so that we can take appropriate steps, including deleting the information.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Effective Date and Last Updated date above will indicate when the policy was most recently revised. Where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to let you know, such as by email or a notice on our website. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
